Engineered Hardwood Floor Installation in the East Bay

Want the look of real wood in a room where solid planks are not the best fit? Engineered hardwood has a real wood surface and a layered core, and we sell and install it.

Engineered hardwood is made of a real wood top layer bonded to layers of wood or fiberboard beneath. That construction helps it stay steadier when humidity changes, and it can suit rooms where solid wood is harder to use, such as over a concrete slab. Good installation still decides the result: the subfloor has to be flat and clean, the method has to match the product, and the layout has to look right in the room.

Matching the floor to the room

We look at where the floor is going, what is under it and how the room is used, and help you choose an engineered floor that fits.

Preparing the subfloor

Engineered planks follow the surface below them. We check that it is flat, clean and dry enough for the product, and prepare it when it is not.

Installing the planks

Depending on the product and the subfloor, planks may be glued, nailed or floated. We use the method that suits your floor and plan the layout across the room.

Finishing and walkthrough

Transitions, baseboards and edges are completed, and we walk through the finished floor with you, including simple care tips.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before getting started.

Is engineered hardwood real wood?

Yes. The top layer is real wood. What is different is the layered construction underneath.

Can engineered hardwood go over a concrete slab?

Often it can, depending on the product and on how dry and flat the slab is. We check the slab and use the method that suits the floor.

Can it be refinished?

That depends on how thick the wood surface layer is. Some can be refinished once or more, and thinner layers cannot. We can tell you for the product you choose.
