Carpet Padding and Seams in the East Bay
Padding and seams are the hidden parts of a good carpet job. They decide how a carpet feels underfoot and how it looks across a large room.
Most people choose carpet by color and texture, but the padding under it matters just as much. It affects how soft the floor feels, how the carpet wears and how quiet the room is. Seams matter too: in a wide room, carpet often has to be joined, and a well-placed, well-made seam is nearly invisible. We help you choose the padding for each room and plan where seams fall, so the finished carpet looks good and lasts.
Choosing padding
Different rooms need different padding. We explain the choices for bedrooms, living rooms and stairs, so you get the comfort you want.
Planning the seams
Where a seam is needed, we plan it to fall where it is least visible, away from main walking lines where possible.
Making the seams
Seams are cut straight, joined with proper seaming tape and pressed flat, so the pile blends across the join.
Checking the finished floor
We look along the finished carpet, including the seams and edges, and go over it with you before we leave.

Everything you need to know before getting started.
Will I see the seam?
A properly made seam is hard to spot. Where it falls and how the carpet is cut have a lot to do with it, so we plan it in advance.
Why does padding matter?
It affects comfort, noise and how the carpet wears. Thin or worn padding can make even good carpet feel poor.
Do all rooms need a seam?
No. Carpet comes in wide rolls, so smaller rooms may need none. Larger rooms often need at least one.
